The Performers for the 2010 Callander Jazz and Blues Festival
The musicians taking part in this years festival event have been carefully selected so that visitors to the event can enjoy more or less every style of live Jazz and Blues Music with just a touch of Soul.
Some of this years performers are making their debut others have been invited back by popular demand but they all have a single aim and that is to provide you with a feast of live musical entertainment.
From solo artists to 21 piece big bands and everything in between with over three hundred musicians that will ensure a long weekend of great music here in the autumn spleandour of the Trossachs.
The Jazz Connection
Jives You Crazy! They are crazy… They are insane… and they are absolutely amazing live on stage. With authentic zoot-suits, flamboyance, Cadillac’s, dancers and cheap whisky, Jazz Connection from Holland is a true follower of the Jumpin’ Jive style that hit America’s black postwar population.
With songs from Louis Jordan and Louis Prima, like ‘’Is you is or is you ain’t my baby’’, ‘’Just a gigolo’’ and ‘’Jumpin’ Jive’’, they bring a revival of the best and brightest star performers from these exciting years.
They have performed at major festivals and clubs in Holland, toured in Belgium, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway and Poland as well as in the Middle East and Asia.
Snake Davis
is well established as one of the UK's leading Saxophonists. He is in demand from the biggest names on the British Popular
music scene, as well as visiting artists from overseas.
In recent years he has been extremely busy and in the public eye. As resident saxophonist on "Tonight With Jonathon Ross" he played with the likes of, James Brown, Smokey Robinson, Chaka Khan and many more. He has been seen regularly on TV with the Eurythmics, M-People and B*Witched and presented a Saxophone "Masterclass" programme for ITV.
He played all featured Saxophone and Flute parts - on record and tour - for Lisa Stansfield and M-People. Read more......
Lyndon Anderson Band
When it comes to the blues, The Lyndon Anderson Band have all the bases covered, whether it's a 1950's Chess classic, a chunk of 70's funk, a rocking Texas shuffle, jazz influenced west coast swing or one of their many originals, they play it all with style, authority and taste. From Lightning Hopkins to the Meters and beyond, they mix up a red hot gumbo of groove with tunes from the likes of Muddy Waters, James Brown, Little Walter, Junior Parker and the Fabulous Thunderbirds.
Whether he's blasting out lightning fast chromatic runs or digging deep down into a bent note, there's no mistaking Lyndon is a true heavyweight of the harp. He blends elements of jazz, blues and funk whilst still remaining true to tradition. Considered by many to be one of the top players on the scene today, his emotional and intense playing is unmistakably one of a kind. Read More.....
The Sound of Seventeen
The Sound of Seventeen is an Edinburgh based Big Band comprising (usually!) seventeen players. The band plays swinging Big Band numbers from the likes of Count Basie and Duke Ellington, arrangments by James Rae, Sammy Nestico and many others.
The band was originally the Royal British Legion Scotland (RBLS) Big Band and became the “Sound of Seventeen” in 2005. The band is a community band; its members are people with musical ability from all walks of life, professions and ages from the community.
The band has been playing in it’s present form since 2001, practicing weekly and performing frequently. Read more and listen to the band...........
The Rosy Blue Jazz Trio
were originally formed in 2003 by three members of the Rosy Blue Blues Band who wanted another vehicle to express their interest in jazz and as a means of developing a more acoustic sound. Rosy Blue Jazz play a mixture of jazz standards with some blues as well as performing more singer-songwriter material (this includes original work).
Influences range from Cole Porter, Nina Simone, Diana Krall and Ella Fitzgerald to Carole King, Sting, Cassandra Wilson, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Undertones and Thin Lizzy.
The duo members are Stuart Allardyce, lead guitar and backing vocals, and Rosie Nimmo, vocals, guitar and harmonica. Owen MacDonald plays double bass when the trio perform. Read more .....
The Dana Dixon Blues Band
Fronted by the powerful singer/harmonica player Dana Dixon and featuring the outstanding slide playing of guitarist Dave Dixon, the
band play a mixture of authentic Texas & Chicago blues, tough R&B and superb original numbers.
Since their formation and the launch of their critically acclaimed debut album "Boogie Woman", the band have garnered fantastic reviews from the British and overseas press for both their recorded work and excellent live act.
Arguably one of the most exciting live acts in Britain today, the band have played at practically every major blues festival in Britain and Ireland, and perform in blues venues up and down the UK, Europe and USA.
Baby Isaac
capture the essence of 50’s Chicago Blues & West Coast Swing. Influenced by such Blues greats as T-Bone Walker, BB King, Little Walter and Sonny Terry, the band have successfully developed their unique sound, loosely termed as ‘Goodtime Blues’, into a powerful yet dynamic mix of Blues, Swing, R & B and Jazz
Baby Isaac bring together a broad spectrum of musical influence which they blend into exciting and varied sets. Playing a mix of original material and cover versions, the band present their own take on the emotion of Blues, whilst breathing new life into Blues standards.
The Trossachs Big Band
As result of previous Callander Jazz Festivals the Trossachs Big band was formed in 2008 and the band
performing at various location throughout the 2010 Festival.
This is a great sounding band and if big bands are your type of music, you will have a great time at any of their venues.

Four On The Floor
is a vibrant young band formed from musicians of Birmingham Conservatoire. The piano trio, featuring Andy Bunting (piano), Nick Jurd (double bass) and Jonathan Silk (drums) is a swinging group working in and around the Birmingham area. 
Playing in various different venues for gigs and private functions, the band is building a strong reputation through regular playing, particularly at The Old Joint Stock. Playing many well known Jazz standards and exploring the tradition of Jazz music, the band is focussing on creating inventive music and entertaining listeners.
When joined by vocalist, Holly Thomas, the resulting quartet increases their rapport, exploring the classic vocal tunes of the Jazz era aiming to provide a modern twist on these well known songs. Taking heavy influence from vocal giants Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald, Holly is a talented young singer to watch.
