Callander Jazz and Blues Festival 2011
Welcome to the Callander Jazz and Blues Festival
Fri Sept 30th/Sat Oct 1st/Sun Oct 2nd 2011
Over now, but the Fesitval Team would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended and for helping make it a such a great festival.
We had the most people ever, most making it into the Festival Yurt at some point, lots of rain that did not dampen enthusiam as people moved around for the many superb performances in the many other venues. This included Pervoe Solnce who got a standing ovation in the Yurt! From the feedback we have had, large and small gigs alike have created their own devotees, including the two youth bands, the Fife Youth Jazz Ochestra and the local McLaren High School Jazz Band. It was a great musical and social success. There are many rooms booked already in Callander in anticipation of:
NEXT YEAR'S FESTIVAL ON 28/29/30 SEPTEMBER 2012
See you all again then! Thanks for coming - the Festival Team.
The Callander Jazz and Blues Festival is now firmly established on the UK Festival map and is one of the largest rural music festival events in Scotland. Visit the Heart of Scotland and experience a weekend of first class entertainment amongst the early Autumn splendour of the Trossachs.
Performers for the 2011 Festival ( Programme now available)
Pervoe Solnce - from Russia with Jazz!
One of the headline acts for the 2011 Festival is a band from Russia called Pervoe Solnce , a 7 piece band
who play combination of diverse music styles into a single harmonious shape. Jazz-rock drums and jazz bass, classical guitar, cello and bop trumpet, melancholic accordion and a handful of vibraphone harmonies create a unique atmosphere of melody, grace and drive.
The Slammers
Another great band for 2011 are The Slammers. The band consists of double bass, piano, alto sax, drums, tenor sax, baritone sax, trumpet and trombone.
The Singer is a very talented young man, Duncan Moris, he came from the European Rat Pack tour to join the band.
They are set to put on a brilliant Vegas style show which will take the audience back in time to those wonderful days when this kind of music was new and exciting.
The band have a wonderful fun interaction on stage with brilliant vocal harmonies, but there is a touch of wildness bubbling underneath and individual solos burst out during most songs.
These are just 2 of the forthcoming acts for the 2011 Callander Jazz and Blues Festival which promises to be every bit as exciting as previous years. We are updating the website frequently so check out the programme page for news of new bands as they are confirmed.
